Ultimatetly, I recognize that there may be instances when I will be tested whether or not I'm making allowances that contradict my scriptural beliefs. Are you willing to compromise?
I recently stopped in for a Subway sandwich meal for lunch. There were about half dozen people in front of me, so I patiently waited my turn. The customer in front of me just finished ordering a foot long Italian BLT (filled with salami, pepperoni and ham.) As I watched the server carefully line the bread with these meats, I couldn't help but be uncomfortable with my veggie sandwich order coming in contact with the pork products via the plastic gloves. Now I'm not one for confrontation, however, my conviction is strong. So I gently asked the server to change her gloves. As awkward as this was for me, it was even more awkward standing next the the lady whose food selection I had just insulted.

I used to work at subway and that was definately a common request. We had a lot of vegetarians did not want any comingling with their food whether it was gloves, or the knife that is used to cut every sandwich, or the countertop. I also have a severe seafood allergy and comingling food can cause me serious problems, so I always request that gloves and utensils be changed and that my food be kept seperate. I wouldn't feel that you insulted anyone or caused any hardship--it is a very common request. :-)
