"Since I began blogging about our "Sabbath Delights," I've been referring to the months as we have found in the Tanakh (Torah, Prophets, Writings OR known as the Old Testament.) As our family is learning to reckon time in accordance to the design of YHWH (using the luminaries as listed in Bereshith/Genesis), I chose not to use the modern dates from the Gregorian calendar. Instead I've tried to incorporate purely Biblical names of the months documented in Scripture. However, my friend recently brought to my attention that the ONLY month named in the Torah is "ABIB" (aka "Aviv" or the 1st month, ) The other names we see in Scripture aren't found in Torah, but named later in the Tanakh. YHWH simply refers to the renewal of the month, or "Rosh Chodesh" by a number such as in Wayyiqra (Lev)23:24:
"Leviticus 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation."
I'm mentioning this here because I hope to begin referring to the dates by their Scriptural name found in Torah, which will be represented by the Hebrew #,( I will also put the Scripturally noted name in parenthesis.) You will also notice that the Sabbath dates are referenced every seven days on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th. This is consistent in Scripture & is the means by which we guard/keep Sabbath.( The Rosh Chodesh, is the 1st day each month & has distinguished instructions separate from the working days & the sabbath.)
