This Sabbath I was working on learning the "Sh'ma" scripture found in Debarim (Deu) 6 in Hebrew. I also did a little pronunciation study and thought it would give some helpful background for those seeking to learn this wonderful language. : This is a link to the 2 page pdf file from my research --it also includes the website for additional reference

We had a very restful Shabbat & spent much of our time of rest outside. The children finished transcribing Part 2 of the Disciple's Prayer in Hebrew, Marlon & I managed to do some additional studies and we concluded with Torah readings & group discussions.
Today I was going through my Torah (instruction) binder and I came across a set of notes from a Sabbath teaching Marlon shared about the "Anti-Christ." Interestingly, there have been accusations that our family fits in this category! Honestly, this is so far from the truth that I don't even take offense to it anymore. However, I do admit that we have been labeled as "Jewish", so from that perspective I could see why one would think we deny the Messiah, ("Jews" are still awaiting their conquering King, Mashiyach ben Dawid) Also, we choose to use the Hebrew name of the Messiah (see scroll above), versus the English transliterated name from Greek which is "Jesus". This would probably cause some people to assume that we are anti-christ. Again, this is so far from the truth, so I decided to post a few snip-its from my notes to further clarify (see below) : (Keep in mind that "Messiah" is a translated from the Hebrew word "Mashiyach" which means "Anointed" (H#4899,)---In my notes I chose to use "Messiah" since it is more commonly used and understood in Christian & Messianic gatherings. Also, in Greek, it is translated as "Christ") : STUDY NOTES: "Spirit of Anti-Messiah (or Anti-Christ)"
*Above notes shared with permission of my Iysh SHALOM זכור את יום השבת לקדשו
(Transliterated:Zakar et Yowm HaShabbath LaQadashu Translated: "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" Shemoth/Exodus 20:8) Although our Sabbath today was not as peaceful as usual, we still managed to keep it set apart & do our Torah readings from Shemoth(Ex) 18 -20 The verses that stood out the most from our reading today was Shemoth 19:5-6 "‘And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine – and you shall be to Me a reign of priests and a set-apart nation.’ Those are the words which you are to speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl.” HalleluYah! As we learn more about the Hebraic culture, we are also studying the manner by which they reckoned time. Here are two interesting videos that clearly depict the wonder of our creator, (keep in mind that many Messianic assembles will keep their holy days based on time according to the moon as shared in the Bible)

Bereshith (Gen) 1:14 This week we enjoyed our time of rest and time of study. I printed up page one worksheet of The Disciples Prayer( aka "The Lord's Prayer") and the children wrote it in Hebrew. This is a link for a copy of that worksheet: http://exploringhebrew.weebly.com/uploads/3/6/1/0/3610819/practice_hebrew_lords_prayer.pdf Here are a few pictures that show our Hebrew Transcription (notice that the younger children did some playdough activities while we worked on the prayer.) This is the link to the worksheet if you're interested in practicing your Hebrew writing: http://exploringhebrew.weebly.com/uploads/3/6/1/0/3610819/practice_hebrew_lords_prayer.pdf (The main source of this document was generated from www.hebrew4christians.com ) After lunch, Marlon & I videotaped a dialogue on marriage in response to a few inquiries we recieved. Later, we continued on with our Torah readings and lots of signing & interpretive dance.
Since we've been visiting Idaho, we have been enjoying weekly fellowship with other Messianic believers. This is their website: http://adatyeshua.net/
They are a great group that meet on Saturdays at the fellowship hall in a local church in Caldwell, ID. They begin with a prayer service, then we "break bread"/eat a potluck lunch, sing/dance, and then finish up with Torah readings with interactive discussions. We've been so blessed by visiting with this assembly and meeting other Messianic believers....HalleluYah! This Sabbath was truly restful. We did some singing & continued with our readings in Shemoth(Exodus). We finished reading & discussing the plagues in Mitsrayim (Egypt).

Shemoth (Exo) 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart. Six days you labour, and shall do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath1 of יהוה your Elohim. You do not do any work – you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days יהוה made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore יהוה blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart." Wayyiqra (Lev) 23:2-3 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘The appointed times of יהוה, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings, My appointed times, are these: ‘Six days work is done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a set-apart gathering. You do no work, it is a Sabbath to יהוה in all your dwellings. " Yeshayahu (Isa)58:13-14 “If you do turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the Sabbath ‘a delight,’ the set-apart day of יהוה ‘esteemed,’ and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, Isa 58:14 then you shall delight yourself in יהוה. And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and feed you with the inheritance of Yaʽaqoḇ your father. For the mouth of יהוה has spoken!” Archives
